Dar es Salaam Development Corporation (DDC) has vacant positions which need to be filled immediately by a suitably qualified Tanzanians.
HEAD OF LEGAL SERVICES – 1 post
Reporting to the General Manager, the role holder is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Legal department, providing legal advisory services and ensuring effective management of legal. He/She is expected to ensure efficient and effective management of staff and resources in the legal department.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and draft contracts, agreements, manage litigation, labor issues as well as internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory and legal requirements;
  • Provide continuous leadership, supervision, training and development of staff;
  • Define the strategic direction for the legal function within DDC
  • Anticipate changes in the legal and business landscape;
  • Manage legal aspects of DDC Business Operations in a complex & competitive market;
  • Develop and maintain a network of external counsel;
  • Recommend improvement and policy changes as required;
  • Act as a solicitor, prepare documents for civil suits, litigation and conduct court cases for the DDC;
  • Carry out other related duties as may be assigned by the General Manager from time to
time.
Candidate’s Qualifications, Knowledge and experience
  • Holder of a degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University/lnstitution;
  • Registered as an advocate in accordance with the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania;
  • Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania with at least 5 years post admission experience;
  • Experience in handling complex legal issues;
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills with capability of managing external environment;
  • Ability to interpret and integrate laws, regulations, and other statutes into business policies and procedures;
  • Demonstration of leadership and development skills;
  • Customer focused, goal oriented with strategic business sense;
  • Adaptable to organizational changes;
  • Ability to work under pressure and within set deadlines.

POSITION: CIVIL ENGINEER-1 post
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assist in undertking Company’s civil/building engineering works such as structural designs, calculations and drawing detailing, site supervision of building, and any other civil/building works;
  2. Develop, maintain and co-ordinate construction and maintance plans for civil/building works undertaken by the company;
  3. Prepare technical standards and specifications for the design of civil and building works undertaken by the company to ensure the highest standards are maintained in executed works, taking particular note o the company’s engineering instructions;
  4. Superivise and monitor civil and building projects assgned, including the preparation of regular project performanoe/accomplishment reports;
  5. Enhance safety matters in the section to ensure safety to employees, customers and equipment at work sites;
  6. Review/scanning by cheking at structural and archtectural drawings if they tally with quantities (BOQ) and other managerial responsibilities;
  7. Carry out other related duties as may be assigned by the General Manager from time to time.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE JOB
  • Must be a holder of Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural and/or buildings) or equivalent from recognized institution.
  • Must be registered by Professional Board (ERB) with at least 3 years experience after registration.
  • Must have an experience of not less than 8 years in the similar works
  • Must have an exerience of supervising construction of multi-story buildings
  • Must be between 40-55 years of age.
